On Monday the 27th we left Flaggy Rock and went
to Rockhampton. Stayed at the Parkhurst Motel and Van Park for only $25 a night
and it turned out to be a very good spot, despite their power supply being a
bit dodgy. When we arrived and connected to power, we had none. After going
through a process of having everything switched off and then getting power and
turning everything back on we were OK. But that came after help from my neighbor
at the park and my mate John in Sydney who is my ‘go to man’ who I call when I
have a problem.
That afternoon we went into town and voted and had a bit of
a drive around town.
Next morning we did the loop drive out to Yeppoon and Emu
Park and back to Rockhampton. Yeppoon is a lovely spot. There were some very enticing places to eat there.
We had lunch at the marina at Rosslyn Bay which was very
popular and very nice. In the previous shot you can see the marina.
Talk about high and dry. The tide goes right out from this estuary at Yeppoon and all the boats are left right out of the water.
Then on to Emu Park and saw the memorial to our soldiers. Also saw the ‘Singing Wreck’. It is a constructed piece to look like parts of a ship wreck and as the wind blows through it you hear a sought of humming and whistling sound.
