On Friday the 8th July we left Caloundra to stay
at sister Kay and bro-n-law Derek’s place at Noosa Heads. They live on a steep road
so I was a bit nervous getting the van in the driveway but it went in without
any difficulty.
One great thing that we have done here is redo the sealing
of my former leaking roof by taking all the silicon from around the two four
season hatches and re sealing it with some good UV silicon. Derek has some good
scaffolding which made the job easy and I pulled and scraped the silicon off
and Derek did the sealing. So good to get that done.
Kay and Derek have a great deck with a view to the west so they get some great sunsets and we have been sitting back and enjoying them.
Noosa is such a lovely spot. These are views from the lookout.
This is Main Beach where we have had a couple of swims.
This is the Spit area where we saw these kyte surfers. There was one that has an extension on the board and the board comes right out of the water with the surfer on top but the video was to large to put on the blog.
We have been going out to a lot of great venues here for
meals and drinks. It is such a great place. On the first Saturday Derek and I dropped in
to the Yatch Club at Noosaville. I have been there before and it is one of my
favourites.
On Sunday we went to the Sunshine Beach Surf Club and
listened to a 70s rock band. They were awesome.
Noosa held a festival last weekend. So firstly Kay and Derek took us to a restaurant right on Noosa main beach where they have a happy hour which provides a great deal on drinks and some pre-dinner pizza. That was great. From there we went to Hastings Street for the start of the festival which opened with a street parade. It was alright if you like parades. The Noosa main beach Surf Club is another great venue
that we dropped into after the parade went through. You could stand on their balcony and watch the parade continuing. Not being a parade lover, I found it a good spot to watch the football.
Last Sunday we did the drive to Montville and Maleny in the
hinterland. Had a great steak at the
Montville Pub. The views from the escarpment were great but we didn’t have very
good weather. We also went to the Gardners Falls just out of Maleny. Then we
finished off by dropping in to King Ludwigs German Restaurant for a drink overlooking
the Glasshouse Mountains. There was a lot of cloud and it was on dusk but it
made the view quite eerie.
On Tuesday Linda and I went down to North Lakes to visit with
my sister Bet. We had lunch at the Belvedere Pub at Woody Point which had
another nice view. This photo was from the street but you get the idea.
That
night all of her kids and their families came over to see us so that was fantastic.
It was great to see them all.
Tomorrow, ie Friday the four of us are going up to Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach to spend three nights. Looking forward to it.
